Bracken Workspace Plus

The brief


Bracken are an independent Leeds business, providing serviced workspace for local brands and big companies. They have been our client for a number of years, using our digital marketing services to help increase their brand visibility. Then in 2018, we had the privilege of designing and building their brand-new website, ready for their upcoming brand re-launch as Bracken Workspace Plus. 

This re-brand was a multi-agency project. Our role was to interpret the new brand, created by a fellow Leeds agency, and apply this across all of Bracken’s existing digital collateral. This included the website of course, but also email templates, social media profiles and display adverts as well.

We built a striking new website fit for a striking new brand, complete with a full CMS, bespoke search function and carefully curated content.

A whole new look


With the brand guidelines and logo for Bracken Workspace Plus finalised, our design team adapted this specifically for online use. Different versions of the logo were created for different assets to make the most of the available screen space. The trio of brand colours became a distinguishing feature for each of Bracken’s three buildings and the ‘b’ initial became a motif through the website and other digital content in an effort to really highlight Bracken’s new brand identity and long-standing brand values.

Focusing on flexibility


For the website specifically, we were challenged with increasing flexibility, allowing new pages to be created on demand, while still remaining firmly on brand. To do this we used Kentico V11 as the content management system and we developed widget driven page templates. These widgets can be used in any combination, text and background colours can be changed and the content and images can all be edited, allowing Bracken to create beautifully branded content pages, complete with dynamic content. 

A conversational style search interaction was built to streamline the user journey for website visitors solely interested in finding an appropriate workspace or meeting room and two different form widgets were created to allow key data capture points to be added throughout the website.

Carefully crafted content


With a new brand identity to launch, simply copying over the existing content from the old website just wasn’t going to do the brand justice. So, we also revised the website content, bringing it inline with the new brand values and creating a friendlier, less formal tone of voice. To support the design of the website, content was also written in short paragraphs and snappy sentences, with new ‘be’ statements created to really unify the content with the design.

Key performance statistics


In the first 30 days since the new website went live, sessions increased by over 17%, pageviews increased by over 107% and pages per sessions by more than 76% when compared with the previous 30 days. Average session duration also more than tripled from under one minute to over three minutes and bounce rates improved too. 

The icing on the cake


The icing on the cake was also seeing the website included in Kentico’s Top Ten Websites for January 2019.
