A Creative Ecommerce Platform



We were approached by Origin Architectural to develop their new brand identity; creating a distinctive brand logo suitable for use across on and offline media as well as defining the brand guidelines and determining the look and feel for the new website and product catalogue. 

Origin Architectural are a new to market, architectural hardware supplier based in Leeds. They specialise in glass railing systems and balustrade components for both residential and commercial applications.

The biggest challenge for this project was to ensure the website made the best first impression possible for both search engines and users. That meant we needed to effectively balance SEO requirements with a strong user experience and well-structured content pages that could drive high engagement metrics such as average session duration and pages per session. 

For that reason, the build of the Origin Architectural website was a two stage process. An initial brochure site was developed and launched to generate initial traffic to the Origin Architectural site, with the aim of raising early brand awareness and kick starting the process of building domain authority. The brochure site then remained live while the full e-commerce solution was in development. 



The design for the Origin Architectural website focused on delivering a clean, crisp design, which we achieved by using a restricted brand colour palette and minimalistic page layouts to showcase Origin's extensive product range.

A mega menu design was also utilised to showcase key product categories, alongside popular individual items and the key calls to action. This allows users to link deeper into the site, reducing the need for excessive navigation and decreasing the number of steps required to complete a product purchase.

The new, fully functional ecommerce site for Origin Architectural features a comprehensive product catalogue all of which can be purchased through the site.

Users can easily search, find and add products into a virtual basket and Kentico’s “Install Payment Gateway” capability was used to achieve the SagePay integration that handles sale transactions for Origin Architectural. The standard Kentico basket functionality was also manipulated using the Kentico API. 

Finally the ecommerce user experience was further improved by developing a Guest Checkout using Kentico’s Register After Checkout Web Part, to automatically register shoppers using the guest checkout feature with their email address.

This ensures their details are stored and remembered the next time they check out, making their user journey faster and more efficient.

In the six months since launch March 23rd 2016 to September 23rd 2016) the Origin Architectural website has achieved:

Maintained an average session duration of over 2:30 minutes
Maintained a bounce rate under 53%

Month on month (Jul 24th to Aug 23rd VS Aug 24th to Sept 23rd)

Sessions increased over 250%
Page views increased by over 765%
Bounce rate reduced by over 20%
Average session duration achieved over 4 minutes on site, increasing month on month by 461%
