Digital Spotlight - Lucy

4 December, 2015

At pixelbuilders, we believe knowledge should be nurtured and shared, which is why we are putting our team in the spotlight to give you some valuable insights into what goes on behind the scenes at a digital agency!

Week four see the turn of our Digital Project Manager Lucy Addison
discussing the key to successful project management and agency life.

What do you like about working in an agency?

The variety. I know it sounds a little cliché but I have such an active mind and thrive when working under pressure so feel those qualities really suit an agency environment where you are working to numerous deadlines. Working in an agency also gives you great exposure to such a diverse range of clients; no two days are the same. One day I can be populating a dental site and another devising ROI strategies for an online retailer.

What’s the key to successful project delivery from the agency’s side?

All of our projects are met with an agile approach and communication is at the heart of it all. Great communication means a great project, poor communication usually results in a late project which has an overall lack of symmetry between what the client wanted and the end product. At pixelbuilders we run a number of communication and project management strategies which really help in the communications between the project team and developers and make sure everyone has sight of the end goal.

What’s the key to successful project delivery from the client side?

The correct balance between knowledge and communication. The workshops we conduct at the beginning of a project are a great way of really getting to know the client and their project. From there we can usually determine what level of communication is needed - some clients love to know all of the technical aspects of their project with constant communication and others prefer to take a step back. I think establishing this balance gives us a great approach to project management as it makes the client feel comfortable and informed and ensures the successful delivery of a project.
