Helping Families In West Yorkshire

13 August, 2013

Young families in and around Wakefield can now benefit from a new online one-stop-shop developed by Pixelbuilders and a partnership of local health groups.

The website, at pitterpatterchatter.org, offers help and guidance on a range of subjects around family planning – from getting pregnant, through pregnancy itself, to birth, early years and beyond.

We developed the website in partnership with local parents, NHS Wakefield Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), Wakefield Council and The Mid-Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust.

We invited local parents – particularly new and expectant mums – to contribute to the process through a public consultation. An online community for parents Pitterpatterchatter.org features an online community that lets new parents share best practice with each other, a mobile-friendly website providing guidance on breastfeeding, and a local services map-search that helps new parents get the best from local services and support groups.

The Wakefield CCG staff can update and edit content easily and around the clock to ensure the area’s young families get the best possible support through the website.

Morna Cooke, Senior Commissioning Manager for Maternity & Children at Wakefield CCG, said, “We are delighted with the website produced for us by pixelbuilders.com.

“They understood what we wanted and translated it into a design our user group were very happy with.  They anticipated our needs, suggesting additional functionality that really added to the product. And all of the feedback we have had is that the website looks great, is clear and easy to navigate.”

Andy Ackroyd, creative director at pixelbuilders.com, said, “We loved working with the parents and health groups of Wakefield, and we’re delighted that we can help local families in this way.

“Having this expert support available to parents at the click of a mouse and around the clock is exactly what the internet is for.”
