A new look and feel for the pixelbuilders.com website for 2012

new website

If you haven’t noticed already – we’ve updated our website. We last did this in May 2010, so we knew it was time for an update and refresh.

It’s been a full team effort. Starting with the design team and their crayons before Christmas, before the tech boys took over at the beginning of the year. Each member of the team ensuring their individual expertise were recognised in the outcome of the project. A project we believe to be a success.

We’ve upgraded to the latest version of Kentico (Version 6.0) and brought in some nice new functionality too.

There are similarities to our old site, based on the foundations of ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’. So aspects such as site structure and our overall brand have remained similar, if not the same as the old site. This is because our brand an important part of our business, so we wouldn’t want to change it and that the existing site structure worked well for our users.

Some of the new functionality we’ve designed and built, includes:
  • New client and news filters – we’re proud to have worked on a large and varied array of clients. But it does mean if you’re looking for a specific service or case-study there’s a lot of information to read through. To help our users, we’ve introduced interactive filters to both our client’s and news articles so you can hone directly into a case study you’re interest in.
  • More flexible content – as well as the filters, certain areas (such as the bottom text box on the homepage for example) don’t display all information on first load. Clicking ‘View More’ buttons display the extra text areas only when a user is ready to read the extra information, so we’re not overloading you with content if you don’t want it.
  • An updated and more interactive mobile site – our new mobile site, which is built in the same CMS instance as our normal website, displays much more information than our old mobile site did. It also makes more use of Mobile JQuery to create a more interactive and fluid feel.
  • And just for fun, a new 404 page – but be careful… www.pixelbuilders.com/404.aspx
